Utah Diary
added 1/1/07

Sep 12 - Moved to our new home in Utah from Pheonix. It is so beautiful here. The Great Salt Lake is magnificent. The grasslands, hills and mountians are so serene and picturesque. I can hardly wait to see them covered with snow. God's Country... I love it here.

Oct 14 - Utan is the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves are turning all different colors. I love the shades of red, yellow, and orange. I went for a ride through some of the beautiful mountian canyons and spotted some deer. They are so graceful, certainly they are the most peaceful animals on earth. This must be paradise... I love it here.

Nov 11 - Deer season will start soon. I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill such an elegant creature. The very symbol of peace and tranquillity. Hope it will snow soon... I love it here more each day.

Nov 20 - It's starting to snow. The first of the season and the first one we've ever seen. The wife and I took our hot buttered rums and sat by the picture window, watching the snow flakes drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was soooo beautiful!

Dec 2 - It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything blanketed with white. It looks like a picture postcard. A real winter wonderland. We went outside and had a snowball fight (I won), then I shoveled snow for the first time and loved it. I did the steps, the driveway and sidewalk. Later, a city snowplow came along and accidentally covered up our driveway with compacted snow from the street. The driver smiled and waved. I waved back and shoveled it again. What a beautiful place. Mother Nature in perfect harmony... I love Utah.

Dec 5 - More snow last night. I love it. The snow plow did his trick again (that rascal). A winter wonderland... I love it here.

Dec 12 - It snowed an additional 5 inches last night and the temperature has dropped to around 11 degrees. Several limbs on the trees and shrubs snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shoveled our driveway again. Shortly afterwards the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Asshole!! Much of the snow is now brownish gray.

Dec 19 - More snow last night. Couldn't get out of the driveway to get to work this time. I'm exhausted from shoveling. Stupid snow plow.

Dec 22 - More of that white crap fell last night. I've got blisters on my hands from shoveling. I think the snow plow man hides around the curve and waits until I'm done shoveling this driveway, the butthead!

Dec 25 - "White Christmas" my butt! More stupid snow. If I ever get my hands on that son-of-a-bitch who drives that snow plow I swear I'll kill him that bastard! Don't know why they don't use more salt on the roads to melt the stupid ice.

Dec 28 - More white crap last night. Been inside since Christmas Day except for shoveling out the driveway after "snow plow Harry" comes by every time. Can't go anywhere, car's buried in a mountain of white crap. The weatherman says expect another 10 inches of the crap tonight. Do you know how many shovels-full of snow 10 inches is?

Dec 30 - Minus 2 degrees outside. More snow. Not a tree or shrub on our property that hasn't been damaged. Power was off most of the night. Tried to keep from freezing to death with candles and a kerosene heater, which tipped over and nearly burned the house down. I managed to put the flames out, but suffered 2nd degree burns on my hands and lost all my eyelashes and eyebrows. On the away home from the emergency room, I slid on the ice trying to miss a deer and crashed into a frozen snowdrift. I should have hit the darn deer and taken my chances. Did almost $4000 to the car. Those beasts should be killed. Wish the hunters had killed them ALL last November.

Jan 1 - Happy Flipping New Year. The weatherman was wrong (again). We got 24 inches of the white crap this time. At this rate it won't melt before the 4th of July. The snow plow got stuck up the road, and the butthead had the gall to come to the door and ask to borrow my shovel. After I told him I've broken 6 shovels already, shoveling all the snow he pushed into the driveway, I broke my last one over his head.

Jan 2 - Snow it keeps coming down. Have to put on all the clothes we own just to get to the mailbox. Power still off. Toilet froze and part of the roof has started to cave in. Tried to take a leak outside and ended up with an icecycle.

Jan 4 - Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food and on the way I slipped in the driveway, another $450 to the chiropractor.

Jan 7 - Sixteen more inches of snow, sleet, ice and who knows what else fell last night. I wounded the snowplow driver with the ice ax, but he got away.Car won't start. I think I'm going snow blind. I can't move my toes. Haven't seen the sun in weeks. More now predicted. Wind chill MINUS 22 degrees.

Jan 10 - Went to get the car from the garage in town. In addition to the $3000 collision damage found out that the thing is rotting out from all the salt they keep dumping all over the road? Car looks like a piece of crap.

Mar 1 - Moved back to Phoenix. I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever want to live in God-Forsaken state of Utah.
